Seaton is located between the ancient harbour of Axmouth and the white cliffs of Beer. Its mile long beach, which is part of the Jurassic Coast, opens onto the waters of Lyme Bay. The town itself has many small shops, a local hospital, doctors' surgeries, primary school, banks and building societies. Seaton is a popular resort for holiday makers, and boasts a wealth of activities including golf, tennis, bowls and sailing. There are good secondary schools nearby along with the renowned Colyton Grammar School, which is just 3 miles inland. The County town of Exeter, with its regional airport, is some twenty miles to the west and the mainline rail link to London (Waterloo) is at Axminster, approximately seven miles distant.
An attractive and popular East Devon seaside resort with a good size resident population, which is increasing rapidly with many new developments planned and currently under construction. The town attracts many tourists and day visitors throughout the year. It is located on the world famous Jurrassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A new Jurrassic Coast visitor centre has opened which will further boost visitor numbers. There is the unique Electric Tram Railway, which operates from its Terminus nearby, traveling through the Axe valley bird sanctuary and wetlands to the historic inland town of Colyton. The famous Beer Caves and Pecorama railway and visitor centre are closeby in the fishing village of Beer.
By foot: From our office in Seaton, proceed right up Fore Street. Continuing into Fore Street passing the Town Hall and Windsor Gardens. Walk straight on Fore Street passing Central Stores and on the left hand side you will see an opening between two cottages. A pedestrian gate here leads to a further entrance gate to Number 42.
Number 42 was bought by the present owner almost 3 years ago. Since that time the cottage has been updated and much improved. Works include new electrics and central heating with a new Worcester gas combi boiler fitted, new kitchen, new bathroom and a new roof laid on the rear extension. The main cottage dates, we believe, back to around 250 years with a later rear extension.
The Property Continued:
The rear of the property has been opened up to create a lovely open plan Kitchen/dining room. The kitchen has been fitted with contemporary white gloss matching base and wall units and has a window to the side and door to a rear porch. This room is open plan to a large dining area with a bow window to the rear overlooking the enclosed courtyard garden and a further bay window to side, creating a lovely light room for entertaining and day to day living. There is a snug living room also on the ground floor along with a newly fitted bathroom and storage. The stairs rise from the entrance hall and is a quirky feature of the property as they split left and right to the two bedrooms. This cottage must be viewed internally to be truly appreciated.
The cottage is approached through a private pedestrian entrance gate for Number 42, which opens to a paved enclosed area with water tap. This area leads to a further rose covered gate. This leads to the enclosed courtyard garden, which although right in the centre of the town, is very private and not overlooked. The area is paved with a seating area, raised flower beds and a shed to the rear.
