Homebuyers to look for weather-proof properties

Homebuyers could be inclined to look for weather-proof properties
for sale in the UK after it was suggested that severe conditions
are likely to damage houses.
Confused.com has issued advice to homeowners in order to prepare
themselves for bad weather over the winter months.
Head of home insurance at the company Gareth Kloet said that severe
weather can cause "massive damage to homes" - a warning that could
encourage homebuyers to look for a more solid property.
Areas to pay particular attention to that were pointed out were to
check whether there is a good drainage system and if the nearby
ground is damp.
Mr Kloet said that people who have already bought properties for
sale should take out home insurance, as this is the "best way to
minimise the impact of any costs incurred" as a result of a
flood.
Property buyers could listen to Mr Kloet's comments, after the
Co-operative Financial Services, together with Shelter, revealed
that one-fifth of households in the UK are not
insured.
