Buy to let owners sign petition to change tenancy law

Many buy
to let property owners have signed a petition to make it easier
for them to evict tenants.
Earlier this week, Landlord Action revealed that 2,000 landlords
have called for a change to the law, which will give them greater
rights over evicting residents.
The petition will close today (November 5th 2010) and will be
presented to Downing Street by the campaign group and Mike
Weatherley MP.
Speaking on the current campaign, founder of Landlord Action Paul
Shamplina said that the response from buy
to let property owners is a clear indication that "landlords
are unhappy".
He stated that the present process "takes far too long", adding:
"2,000 landlords are now asking the government to recognise
landlords' concerns and to begin taking steps to improve the
situation."
In July, the National Landlords Association reported that one-fifth
of landlords have experienced problems with tenants in rent arrears
during the previous three months, many of whom could be tempted to
sign the petition to get problem residents evicted
sooner.
